Keeping it Lite for the Holidays

Healthy Living

Kristi Whitley

I made a decision last week not to attend a holiday party with some of my tennis acquaintances based on the fact that I was thinking about it too much. I wanted to go but would have to pay for a meal I couldn't eat and bring a gift to swap for a gift I don't need. Just the fact that I was putting so much thought into it told me to blow it off. I'm saving all my energy (both mental and physical) for people who mean the most to me.  Bottom line is, I'm being intentional with my December thought and deed. Not everyone or everything gets a "yes" from me. We are keeping it small and real. Hope you are too.

Try to stay healthy over the holidays by continuing to juice, eat a salad every day, and get some exercise even if it is just yoga. Also, don't neglect your vitamin D supplement, your probiotic, or your b-complex. If you are not juicing two-three times a day add some vitamin C. It is available in a zillion forms so no excuses! If you aren't already taking supplements everyday, don't start now, too much stress. We'll talk more about them in the new year.

Choose Wisely, Grasshopper

Do eat right by choosing your poison wisely. If you know you want a cocktail at a party go for the best, no wine in a box or cheap margarita. Go for the top shelf and have just one. If you want to eat a dessert at a party have just one bite of the best one. Don't eat it just because it is offered. Skip the meat, potatoes, cheese tray, or gooey appetizer if that is not what you REALLY want. Skip the burger if you know it's the fries you really want and vice versa. Remember, dose is important when it comes to poison so keep your portions small.

See Recipes for my vegetable soup to fill up on before parties.

Luke 1:30-33
"...Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."

Just think how hard her heart was pounding! It takes my breath away 2,013 years later!
Blessings and peace,
